REVIEW: New and Returning Halloween Treats at Jolly Holiday Bakery Café in Disneyland
Disneyland Park’s Jolly Holiday Bakery Café is full of special treats this Halloween. We have seen some of these items before, but there are also a lot of new snacks.
Roja Salsa Grilled Chicken Sandwich – $ 10.49
Grated chicken with salsa roja on rustic bread with jack and cotija cheeses served with tortilla soup
This is by far the best sandwich we have ever had at Jolly Holiday. It’s huge and stuffed with tons of chicken, which makes this dish feel like a steal. The sandwich looks amazing when dipped in the soup, but it’s also great on its own. The chicken is not at all dry, probably thanks in part to the salsa roja.
The soup is hot and spicy! You could probably eat a third of it before the heat gets too spicy, but it’s so good.
Pumpkin muffin – $ 4.49
Pumpkin muffin is a solid choice and one of their best muffins. It’s perfectly cooked! The top is firm and crisp, while the bottom is super soft and moist. The cream cheese filling is also great because it makes it look more like a cupcake than a muffin. The pumpkin flavor is not very potent, so any pumpkin lover can easily consume it. It feels more like dessert than breakfast, so keep that in mind if this is your first meal of the day.
Cruella de Vil Brownie – $ 5.49
Chocolate brownie with dark and white chocolate mousse
The brownie features a white chocolate medallion of the fabulous villain herself, Cruella de Vil, surrounded by drops of dark and white chocolate mousse
Unfortunately, we didn’t like this brownie. The brownie part of the dish was rock hard and had no flavor. The mousse was too sweet and its flavor artificial, possibly due to the amount of black food coloring which can affect the taste of food in certain amounts.
Cookie and Cream Macaron – $ 5.99
Mummy mickey macaroon shell with cookie and cream filling
If you already love macarons and are a fan of cookie-cream flavors, this macaroon is to die for.
The buttercream filling is exquisite, although it’s hard to say whether one should be more impressed with the taste or the craftsmanship. Both are remarkable. We love macaroons and we love cookies and cream, especially in frosting.
Mickey Mouse Biscuit – $ 4.49
Batwing shortbread dipped in dark chocolate with a vampire Mickey face
The cookie was your standard shortbread cookie with chocolate frosting, nothing special, but Mickey’s face makes for a cute seasonal offer!
Pumpkin Cheesecake – $ 5.99
Classic pumpkin cheesecake decorated with chocolate spider web and Halloween decoration
The cheesecake is the perfect size for one with a white chocolate Mickey pumpkin medallion on top.
This cheesecake had a great pumpkin flavor with the right consistency for a cheesecake. Nutmeg goes well with pumpkin and this is an option we would have again.
