SIZL. Burger brings heat to Sparks
The Outlets at Legends is the second BurgerIM (now SIZL. Burger) site to grab the attention of guests. After the Handcrafted Gourmet Burger Bar in downtown Reno followed suit, the Sparks Restaurant also morphed into a burger bar of a different name. Now they’re flipping classic burgers loaded with onions, pickles, lettuce and cheese, and other quirky concoctions like an extra spicy Caliente burger with Cajun seasoning and jalapeños.
Located near the IMAX theater and next to the Key & Code, SIZL escape rooms. Burger is a small over-the-counter restaurant that’s also home to Mr. Beast Burger’s Ghost Kitchen, a virtual delivery and pickup-only kitchen serving Sparks and Reno.
The menu is packed with loaded burgers to suit all tastes and just about any occasion to personalize your meal.
The Smash is a classic – two 3 oz. mashed patties topped with American cheese and the possibility of adding other toppings, some free (lettuce, onion, pickles, tomatoes) and others at an additional cost (sautéed mushrooms, bacon, avocado). Even the bun can be personalized, replacing the classic sesame-free version with a gluten-free version, a lettuce wrap, or a carnivorous style (i.e. skip the bun).
What sets this burger apart is the smash technique. Instead of a perfectly formed patty, you have a mashed portion of ground beef that collapses in your hands in the best possible way. With just a little sauce, this burger is juicy and bursting with packaged ingredients, not at all dry or overcooked. This is easily the best item we sampled on the menu.
If you’re looking to take the road less traveled, you might be tempted by the more creative burger options on the menu. The Falafel plays with tahini sauce on a falafel patty while the Buffalo packs a punch with a crispy chicken breast, grilled onions and house sauce.

Greek is surprisingly refreshing for a burger, made with a base of lamb patty, tzatziki sauce, mixed greens, onion and tomatoes. The patty has a slight kick, but it is quickly put out by the fresh cucumber dressing. Much like The Smash, the same options exist for customizing this burger, but we recommend that you let it be; there is certainly nothing missing as is.
Wings are also a must-try menu item. Served in several flavors, the sweet BBQ caught our attention. The wings are extra moist, dripping with sauce. The flavor of the sweet barbecue isn’t spicy at all, and the wings are incredibly juicy and taste super fresh.
One of the best SIZL decisions. made included a half-and-half side option, meaning that guests can combine any two sides they want into one for an additional 0.79 cent.
The fries here are the potato chip-style medallions that many Reno restaurants seem to offer, but there are also onion rings and sweet potato fries to try. The former deserves an award for being delicious and crisp with an easy-to-bite onion middle (without a full, wet, extra-hot slice of onion hitting you in the face as you try to snack). Sweet potato fries have a good flavor but lack the crunchiness that onion rings provide. If you’re really hungry, go for stylish fries that add cheese, bacon, and other ingredients on top for a loaded option.
Milkshakes, sliders and children’s meals are also on the menu.
With so many burger options in the Reno-Sparks area, the competition for a new joint is stiff. SIZL. has the upper hand when it comes to location, but no matter where he was, we’d always be backing down for a few seconds.
