Tiempo with Joe Torres: Donations to Latino institutions, new salsa dance museum
Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott made the generous contributions.
She is the billionaire ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, the boss of Amazon and the richest man in the world.
In total, she has donated $ 2.7 billion to 286 organizations across the country.
In our region, Hostos Community College received $ 15 million.
El Museo del Barrio, which has been in existence for over 50 years, received a donation of $ 8 million.
Joe Torres spoke to Patrick Charpenal of el Museo about what the institution plans to do with the manna of money.

The nonprofit leading the effort wants to highlight the impact of salsa here and help shape the next generation of Latino musicians and artists.
Joe spoke with co-founders Willy Rodriguez and Ilialis “Lily” Reyes, and Damaris Mercado of the International Salsa Museum about the big upcoming projects and programs they plan to deliver to the Bronx community.
